Mehmed is a senior researcher leading the Space Robotics Team at DFKI-RIC. He studied Systems Engineering at the University of Bremen, graduated with a BSc and MSc in Systems Engineering. Over the last 15 years he has been involved in different tasks and led projects at DFKI-RIC. He works in the broad field of applied robotics in various domais of proof-of-concept robot development, from underwater to space. His PhD was also at the University of Bremen in the field of knowledge representation and using ontologies for robot architecture design and control. He is currently leading the SAMLER-KI and SpaceUSB projects dealing with the development of a lunar rover that can survive lunar nights and the standardization of multifunctional interconnects for orbital applications.
