Giovanni Campolo

Eng. Giovanni Campolo is currently Vice President Smart Space Factory special project in Thales Alenia Space Italy. In 1990 he graduated in Electronic Engineering in Systems Automation at the “La Sapienza” University of Rome and in 1993 a post-graduate degree in “Mathematical Theory and Method for Systems Analysis and Control”. He has been working for Thales Alenia Space (TAS) since 1991, covering increasing responsibilities in various engineering departments (such as Attitude and Orbit Control, Data Handling, Electrical System and Platform engineering). He was also responsible for the design, development and testing of some relevant systems such as the avionics of many satellites for telecommunications or earth observation missions for institutional or commercial clients. Since 2016 to 2023 he has been appointed CC Platform and Integration Director in TAS Italy. He has also been responsible for many R&D projects mainly in avionics and platform products. Giovanni has presented several articles on Journals and Conferences. His main areas of expertise are systems engineering, systems and subsystem testing, space systems, avionics, data management, FDIR, electrical systems and operations. In 2013 he was appointed in Thales Alenia Space Senior Expert in Satellite, Platform and on board control systems. He was in 2022 as guest lecturer responsible of a module on “Space Dynamics & Systems Design” at the Bradford University in the frame of MSc Satellite Systems Engineering Course. He has taught in two Masters programme in Space Technology in two different Universities: Rome “Tor Vergata” and Rome “La Sapienza”.
