Giordana Bucchioni

Giordana Bucchioni is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Engineering at the University of Pisa. She graduated cum laude in Automation and Robotics Engineering from the University of Pisa in 2017 and earned her Ph.D. in Information Engineering from the same institution. Her doctoral thesis, titled “Guidance and Control for Phasing, Rendezvous, and Docking in the Three-Body Lunar Space,” was recognized with the prestigious Guido Horn D’Arturo Prize awarded by the Società Astronomica Italiana.

After completing her Ph.D., she gained valuable experience through various roles: a year at ISAE-SUPAERO, another year collaborating with the Mathematics Department at the University of Pisa, and a brief tenure at Leonardo Labs. She assumed her current academic position in April 2023.

Her primary research interests lie in Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) for proximity operations in space.
