Andreas Forø Tollefsen
Andreas Forø Tollefsen is Associate Professor of Human Geography at the University of Oslo and Senior Researcher at the Peace Research Institute Oslo (PRIO). He is a political geographer who studies the spatial dynamics of armed conflict and their societal consequences, with particular emphasis on (im)mobility and the development impacts of violence. Methodologically, his work centers on geospatial data, reproducible workflows, and quantitative spatial analysis for social-science applications.
He recently completed the four year Research Council of Norway–funded CONMIG project (Geographies of Conflict-Induced Migration), which combined spatial statistics, participatory mapping, and qualitative approaches to examine how forms, intensity, and proximity of violence shape migration decisions and trajectories. He is a work package leader in the Peace Science Infrastructure project, leading the continued development of PRIO-GRID, and also contributes to large-scale efforts to track the spatio-temporal dynamics of warfare.
Tollefsen teaches GIS and advanced spatial data analysis at BA, MA, and PhD levels, and regularly delivers hands-on training in spatial analysis using R and related geospatial tools.
